Basic knowledge of the common DC power input connector widely used in electronic equipment
This article introduces the definition, internal structure and working principle of
DC power jack, explaining how this barrel connector provides stable DC power input for various electronic products.
DC power jack, also known as DC female socket, is a common cylindrical power connector for direct current input. It consists of plastic housing, metal contact pins and soldering terminals. When the DC male plug inserts into the DC power jack, the inner pin and outer metal sleeve contact tightly to complete circuit conduction and transmit DC power to the equipment. Most DC power jack adopt barrel size specifications such as 5.5*2.1mm and 5.5*2.5mm. Different pin sizes must match the corresponding DC plug, otherwise poor contact or power failure may happen. Some DC power jack designs add ground pins or switch terminals to realize battery switching function inside devices. This connector is widely used for routers, LED lamps, surveillance cameras and small household appliances. The simple structure and convenient plug-in feature make DC power jack become the preferred power interface for low and medium current electronic products.
