Panel mount, vertical and horizontal PCB mount DC power jack classification and application scenarios
Classify DC power jack according to installation styles, compare panel mount, vertical and horizontal PCB mounted types to help engineers select suitable connectors for product design.
DC power jack can be divided into three mainstream types based on installation methods: panel mount, vertical PCB mount and horizontal PCB mount. Panel mount DC power jack usually comes with threaded body and matching nut. It is fixed on the equipment shell panel, which separates plug pulling force from PCB board, protecting circuit board from damage. DC099 and DC022M are typical threaded panel mount DC power jack, often used in outdoor equipment. Vertical PCB mount DC power jack stands upright on circuit boards and saves horizontal space. Horizontal or right-angle DC power jack lies flat on PCB, suitable for thin and compact device shells, such as small controllers and portable instruments. Card snap-in DC power jack is another popular variant. It locks into the mounting hole by buckle structure without nuts, fast for mass assembly. Designers can choose the installation type of DC power jack according to product shell space, assembly process and vibration environment.
