Standard wiring operation and typical errors to avoid when installing rotary switch
Correct wiring directly affects rotary switch performance and circuit safety. Many equipment faults happen due to wrong wiring instead of defective rotary switch components. Technicians need to follow wiring diagrams and avoid common installation mistakes.
Before wiring, disconnect power supply completely and check the pin definition of rotary switch. Each terminal corresponds to a specific circuit path at different rotation positions. Do not mix live wire and neutral wire randomly. For multi-pole rotary switch, separate power circuit and signal circuit to reduce interference.
Use wires with proper gauge matching the rated current of rotary switch. Loose terminals will generate heat and burn contacts. Tighten screw terminals firmly, and inspect solder pins for cold solder joints. Do not apply excessive force when soldering, or the internal plastic base may melt and damage the contact mechanism.
The most frequent mistake is overload wiring, connecting loads exceeding rotary switch rated current. Another error is ignoring vibration fixation, which loosens wire terminals over time. After wiring, test every rotation position to verify smooth circuit switching. Standard wiring keeps rotary switch safe and stable during long-time running.
